DESCRIPTION and GOALS
MASTER       DOCTORATE
MASTER of UTV

The MASTER has been activated since the Academic Year 1998-99. The students must attend theoretical and practical lectures, given by Italian and foreign researchers. Further on they have to attend special seminars given by experts of industry. The students must participate to experimental and numerical activities using some of the most diffuse numerical codes in the world.

The Course is divided in two parts. In the first one the lectures will concern: Applied Thermal and Fluid Dynamics; Thermal and Fluid Dynamics Measurements. In the second part the lectures will be relative to applications of thermal and fluid dynamics to: industrial processes at high temperatures, engines with solid propellants, engines for space, superconductivity, machines, internal combustion engines and environment.

The goals of the Master are: the preparation of an expert on topics of numerical and experimental fluid dynamics, the updating of the experts in thermal and fluid dynamics with the most recent techniques of numerical predictions and experimental measurements.

DOCTORATE "IDEA"

The IDEA Doctorate can be fulfilled in three years of activity. The candidates will attend courses and seminars relative to the themes of energy and environment. The research activity is carried out with theoretical, numerical and experimental methodologies. In the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Numerical Laboratory of the Heat Transfer Section, it is possible to use some of the thermal and fluid dynamics codes most diffuse in the world. In the Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics Laboratories it is possible to carry out experiments on several fluid dynamics problems.

The aim of the IDEA Doctorate is to prepare the profession of a researcher in the energy sector, able to design new types of technical plants, for production, conversion and conservation of energy, for economy of the energy resources, compatible with the environment or with a controlled environmental impact.

At the end of the IDEA Doctorate, the candidates can be employed in Universities, in Italian and Foreign Research Institutions, in Italian and international private laboratories, in public Institutions which require highly qualified personnel to be employed in the energy policy but also in experimental activity and management in numerical analysis.
