The research activity carried out in the Master is vast and only that concerned with the responsible of the web site will be described here. The grants received in the past years have been relative to:
  • Thermal and fluid dynamics of one and two phases flow;


  • Technical solutions to improve the efficiency of the thermal and fluid dynamics processes;


  • Forced and mixed turbulent convection of air jets onto smooth and finned cylinders;

Presently the following granted research topics are carried out:
  • Measurements of thermophysical properties at low temperatures. (VIRTIS – An image spectrometer in the range 0.25 – 5 m m for the ROSETTA mission);


  • Measurement of the thermophysical properties of materials simulant extraterrestrial bodies and foams;


  • Thermophysical properties of the martian soil.


The following titles of the Master theses have been completed or are still running:

  • Technical, economical and thermoeconomic investigations of heating networks and cogeneration plants;


  • Thermal and fluid dynamics simulation of an air jet impinging onto a smooth cylinder;


  • Experimental investigation of heat transfer between air jets and three cylinders in a row;


  • Numerical simulation of recirculating flows due to interaction with obstacles and jets;


  • Thermal and fluid dynamics of an air jet impinging onto a finned cylinder;


  • Thermal and fluid dynamics of a rotating disk in air;


  • Thermal and fluid dynamics problems in the continuous casting of liquid metals.

    • Measurement of the convective heat transfer coefficient in evaporators at natural convection employed in domestic refrigerators;


    • Experimental design of a heating network for cogeneration plants;


    • Thermoeconomy and structural analysis of the heating network at Tor Vergata;
